Gateway Arch National Park

With an iconic swoop measuring 630 feet in the air and base to base, Gateway Arch is the tallest stainless-steel monument in the world. The location of this massive monument is St. Louis, Missouri and a place we stopped while on our epic summer road trip.

Under the Arch is a musuem that traces the history of St. Louis and the people who have inhabited the area. As a gateway to the West, the musuem details the diverse cultures and impact of settlement expansions on Native Americans.

PLAN: The entire museum is indoors, so you can really visit at any time of the year. Be sure to reserve your tram ride prior to the date you are going because tickets sell out quickly – Tram Tickets.

NEED: You really do not need anything beyond comfortable walking shoes. There are a few small walking trails outside, but this is not the park you are heading to for hiking

.

We also opted to take a riverboat cruise up the Mississippi. The boat hosted some amazing views of the arch and the city of St. Louis. These launch about every 90 minutes during the summertime and even offer dinner cruises.  Tickets here.
