Ocean View Rooms

Lately there have been several complaints about the ocean view room that friends {not clients} have received while at their resort. Ironically the same complaints were in one of my travel agent only sites – where their clients have not been happy about the ocean view. The answer is quite simple and might seen sneaky and misleading on the resort end.

First, you must understand that any sort of extra upgrade in room view or location means the price will increase. Better rooms are more desirable, thus people will pay more. Second, not all room views are alike. Meet client “A” and “B” who both paid for an ocean view room at the same resort. While client “A” might have the entire view of the ocean and can wake up to the sunrise client “B” might have to strain their neck and peek around the corner to get a glimpse of the ocean while still peering through tree branches.

The pictures you see on the resort pages are not a one fit all. Photographers literally pick the best room to give that category its name and take pictures of the best views. Also, those pictures are photoshopped. I remember going to a resort that showcased it being semi-private and a lush greenness around. When we arrived the resort was right outside of the city {there was a KFC across the street to the entrance} and there was a resort right next door. No trees or lush vegetation like the stories those pictures portrayed.

When you are wanting those beautiful ocean views your best bet is to book in an oceanFRONT or beachFRONT. These categories will be more of what you are envisioning for those views.
